Soul Food (Continued)
The Word of God is life; physical life and spiritual life. When Jesus spoke, people were made whole physically. The Bible tells us that “by His stripes we are healed.” If we meditate on God’s word so that we receive it in our hearts we can be healed. More importantly, the Word of God is spiritual life. Jesus was hungry physically, but He used the Word of God to carry him through this trial. Each time the enemy came against Jesus, he quoted scripture from the Old Testament. Jesus used the Word of God against the devil.
Do you use the word of God when the enemy attacks you? Christ is our example and we need to use the Word of God to fight the enemy. Ephesians 6:17 tells us “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” The helmet of salvation is used to protect our mind. Meditating on the Word of God will allow you to overcome trials and tribulations because you are not focused on the trial, but on God’s word. Isaiah 26:3-4 states “3Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. 4Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength: “ God will keep you, but you must keep your mind on Him and His Word. The sword of the Spirit or the Word of God is the weapon you use to fight the devil. When the devil attacks, we fight back using the Word of God.
Once when Jesus was talking to some followers, some of them did not like what He said and decided not to follow Him anymore. Jesus looked at the remaining disciples and stated “Will ye also go away?” Peter answered Christ and stated these words found in John 6:68, “Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life.” Knowing that Christ has the Word’s of Eternal life, we should daily strive to feed our spiritual man with His Words. God bless!
